Unfortunately the Windows sound configuration for this system only recognizes one "High Definition Audio Device" and if I plug in the headset, So I plugged the headset in to the front jacks, and left the external speakers plugged in to the rear jacks. Using an old set that still needs mini stereo jacks. Recently my USB headset (which I use for conference calls) developed a short and while I wait for a new set to arrive, I'm temporarily My Optiplex 7010 has your usual onboard sound configuration - speaker and microphone jacks in both the front and rear.
